Pedestrian call unit manufactured by ETU LLC
Description:
ETU-PP-basic is a pedestrian pushbutton device designed to activate the pedestrian signal phase. It is installed horizontally to provide optimal sound distribution within the pedestrian crossing zone.
Key Features:
-
Designed for outdoor applications
-
Robust vandal-resistant metal housing (175×91×51 mm) with anti-corrosion coating
-
Metal pushbutton with integrated LED indication (red/green) synchronized with pedestrian signal
-
Built-in vibration motor for tactile feedback
-
2.8 m connection cable
-
Horizontal mounting ensures effective sound dispersion
The ETU-PP-basic unit enhances the accessibility and usability of pedestrian crossings, offering intuitive interaction with traffic light systems for all users, including those with disabilities.
Recommended Use of ETU-PP-basic with Countdown Timer
(LED Pedestrian Traffic Lights with Countdown Timer)
The ETU-PP-basic pedestrian pushbutton is ideally suited for integration with traffic light systems equipped with a countdown timer (CT), operating in a request-based pedestrian phase activation mode. When pressed, the button sends a signal to the controller, which initiates the pedestrian cycle and instructs the countdown timer to begin displaying the time.
📌 Advantages of this integration:
-
In autonomous mode, the CT independently measures the durations of the signal phases (red, yellow, and green), but only after the ETU-PP-basic button is activated. Before activation, the display shows a waiting symbol (two dashes or a pedestrian icon).
-
In RS-485-controlled mode, the CT receives countdown values from the controller. Pressing the ETU-PP-basic button starts the countdown display for two complete traffic light cycles. After the cycles are completed, the display returns to waiting mode until the button is pressed again.
🔧 Connection Interface:
-
Compatible with minimal wiring configurations to the controller (4 or 5 wires for autonomous mode; RS-485 for addressable control)
-
A dedicated “Wait” signal line indicates button activation
As a result, pairing the ETU-PP-basic with a CT timer enables clear, accessible, and safe interaction for pedestrians at signalized crossings. This solution is particularly effective in high-traffic areas or locations where inclusive infrastructure is required (e.g., sound cues, vibration feedback, and LED indicators).
